Eyelash Lift and Tint

A few days ago i got my eyelashes lifted and tinted for the first time. I wanted to share the experience and talk through the process incase anyone is thinking of getting this treatment.

The idea of the process is to make the lashes look fuller and thicker without wearing eye make-up. Of course, you can wear eye makeup after having the eyelash lift, but the process makes it look like you're wearing natural eye makeup anyway.

It took about 45 minutes with some breaks in between of waiting as the solutions to work on the lashes. This was fine by me because i had just had a facial and massage and i was ready to drop off!

Im sure the process is done slightly differently where ever you go to have an eyelash lift, but this is how mine worked.

1. Firstly, my lower lashes were taped down
2. A guard was placed on my eye to create the curl and protect my eye from any solutions
3. The first solution is placed on the eye lashes and is removed after 15 minutes
4. The setting solution is placed on the eye lashes and again, removed after 15 minutes
5. A tint was applied to the lashes and removed after 5-10minutes

The actual process was quick and easy and fairly relaxing. However, i did find it slightly uncomfortable having the tape on my lower lashes as this restricted my blinking and i couldn't laugh or smile as the tape wouldn't allow the skin around my eyes to move! Its really important to keep your eyes closed throughout all the application as it would be very painful to get any solution in your eyes.

I was really overwhelmed by how well this worked on my eyelashes. Its three days later now and i haven't worn any mascara on my upper lashes since having this done.

This treatment really appealed to me as i spend ages curling my lashes every single day, and the mascara application is something i find really boring and tedious even though i love the end result of wearing mascara. I also do shift work, so anything to make my life easier on an early shift is wonderful. Overall I'm happy with the results, and depending on how long the treatment lasts i will consider having it done again.

Please excuse the redness of my face; i had just had a facial and one of the products used didn't agree with my skin!

Mascara - Maybelline VS Rimmel

Maybelline 'lash sensational' mascara and Rimmel 'wonderfull' mascara are fairly new additions to my makeup collection. I always buy drugstore mascaras and use them one at a time because i find they dry out and are used up too quickly. However, i have used both of these mascaras recently.

The Maybelline mascara is amazing for a dramatic lash look. It makes my lashes very thick and long.  The consistency of this mascara is quite wet and i usually find myself liking mascaras much more when they have slightly dried up and are not so wet. A lot of the product comes out on the wand and because of the plastic applicator and the slightly curved wand its hard to wipe the product off back into the mascara tube.
I like this mascara a lot, but i would use it more for an evening look. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a mascara that makes their lashes look very defined, thick and dramatic. This mascara also has AMAZING staying power and will look the same on your lashes at the end of the day as it did when you first applied it.

After finding the Maybelline mascara a bit too dramatic for my everyday look, i pulled this mascara out of my makeup collection and gave it a whirl. Just the right amount of product came out of the tube onto the wand which is rare from a brand new mascara. The wand is also plastic. This mascara contains argon oil which i presume is good for your lashes. I particularly like that it contains argon oil  because it makes taking my mascara off so quick and easy.
A negative factor about this mascara would be that even when curling my lashes before applying, my lashes lose their curl and volume half way through the day unlike the Maybelline mascara which holds them in place for hours.

All in all i do love both mascaras equally, but for different looks.

2014 makeup favourites

So as 2014 has come to an end i thought i would post some of the makeup products that have been my favourite throughout the whole year.
I have not included any lipsticks because they are my favourite makeup product and i would be here for days if i were to include any as i love so many and wouldn't be able to choose 2 or 3 favourites!

The Collection 'lasting perfection' concealer is a product that i have gone back to using even when i have tried other concealers throughout the year. It's so popular and i 100% agree with the hype.
The consistency is thick and creamy which makes it very full coverage but still easy to blend. I have it in two different shades as i used a slightly darker one during summer.

I have so many bronzers but again, the Stila 'stay all day' bronzer is one i have used the most and always reached for.
I use this for warming my cheek bones, temples and top of the forehead and i don't usually use it for contouring but i definitely would if i wanted to as it also works well as a contour colour.

This is the Sleek blusher in 'rose gold'. I wanted to try this for so long, but every time i went to buy it it was sold out, and now i know why!
It gives a natural flush of colour throughout the cheeks with a slight shimmer as some gold flecks run through the blusher. Ive used it all year round and will continue to use it.

I discovered this product in the second half of 2014, but i wanted to include it in my favourites as i have sworn by it.
I have never filled in my eyebrows as i naturally have dark and full brows. But i wanted to try a product such as a gel which would just hold them in place. This product by Rimmel ('brow this way') holds my brows in place all day.

I tend to use one mascara at a time because i find they can dry up quite quickly. So although i have used a few throughout 2014 the Rimmel 'lash accelerator' has been my absolute favourite.
The wand is plastic which i wouldn't normally choose to use. The mascara is amazing for separating the lashes as well as making them much longer.

I needed a new primer so i bought this on a win. The Rimmel 'fix & perfect' primer' ensures my makeup stays on my face all day and doesn't slip around. Its also amazing at creating the softess base before applying foundation.

My MAC palette is my pride and joy! I have been working on it for over a year now, trying to fill my 15 space palette and I'm slowly getting there!
What i love about the palettes is that you can create your perfect palette because you choose the colours that you buy. I have gone for a neutral coloured palette as i will get so much more wear out of it than a palette with brighter colours.

MUA lipliners are also something that i have been using non stop. This is because they are so cheap and have a good variety of colours. I have 4 of the colours that they have in the collection as you can see above.
The quality of the lipliners is surprisingly good and i would recommend them to anyone looking for a new lipliner on a budget.

Finally (not really a makeup product) is my Real Techniques 'base shadow brush'. This is the perfect shape and size for a shadow to be placed all over the lid. Its so soft and it cleans easily.
